Final Open Studio at the Evans School

Denver, CO  – The very last Evans School Open Studios and Art Market will be held on Sunday, September 29th, 2024, from 12 PM to 6 PM, marking the end of an era for Denver’s beloved artist community. As the historic School undergoes redevelopment, this final event will be a special celebration for the artists who have called this building home and fostered a vibrant, supportive creative community within its walls. While the artists made significant efforts to purchase the building in hopes of preserving it as a hub for the arts, those efforts were ultimately unsuccessful. Despite this outcome, the artists remain committed to supporting one another as they continue their work throughout Denver.

Since its inception in December of 2023, the Open Studios and Art Market has been a space for local artists to showcase their work, connecting them with art enthusiasts and the larger Denver community. For this last market, visitors can expect to see construction on the first and second floors of the building as the site transitions to new uses. Despite these changes, the heart of the event remains the same – an opportunity to immerse yourself in the works of some of Denver's most passionate contemporary artists.

Visitors will enjoy a diverse range of mediums, from painting and sculpture to digital art, fashion, fiber arts, and more.

More than just a market, this last event is a celebration of the close-knit community that has developed within the School. Although the building's time as an artistic sanctuary is coming to a close, the bonds forged here will carry on, with the artists continuing to support one another in their future endeavors.

About the Evans School Studios

The Evans School Studios is a thriving creative hub for artistic expression where creativity and innovation blossom. Built in 1904, the Evans School building accommodated up to 700 elementary students at its peak and was a pioneering establishment, boasting departments dedicated to hearing and sign language education. Today, this historic structure has transformed into an artist's sanctuary and community hub, accommodating and supporting 50+ local artists. Made possible through the collaborative efforts of RedLine Contemporary Art Center's Satellite Studio program and City Street Investors, this creative haven provides affordable studio spaces to artists, enabling them to live and work in Denver.
