The Museum For Black Girls is an immersive pop-up sensory museum in Denver, CO where guests not only see the art but feel and interact with it. Being a black girl is an experience! The aesthetic of the exhibits is vibrant and shows the evolution from the beginning until now...through the lens of black women.

This installation was inspired by memories of getting hair done by older cousins, watching aunties and grandmothers layin’ down their edges as everyone prepared to leave the house, and even being a young girl watching older families members getting dressed for special occasions. Hair, barrettes, scrunchies, household items, bedding, toys, irons, clocks, fabrics, and found materials all work together to illustrate the comfort and nostalgia of these memories.
